PADSAC Hog Roast Evening at the Penarth Yacht Club raises £1200
Hog Roast 7th June 2008
The Management Committee of our local Penarth and District Scout Activity Centre held a fund raising Hog Roast and entertainment evening at the Penarth Yacht Club. With tickets sold out weeks before the event the full house enjoyed the ambience of a summer’s evening on Penarth front, entertained by local band The Snorklers and fed well on spit roasted hog.
Glen Prisk, Chairman PADSAC Management Committee, said “It was a fabulous evening not only for my team but everyone who attended. In Scouting you know your children are in good hands, with trained adults there to lead and advise them and PADSAC offers them a great base where everybody, both young and old, can enjoy adventurous and exciting Scouting. I thank everyone who attended for supporting our cause and in particular a really big thank you to The Snorklers who entertained us so well and gave their time free in supporting Scouting. Special thanks must also go to Ian Wilson, my son-in-law, who spent many hours cooking and serving the hog which was extremely well appreciated by all during the evening”.
Rita Hughes, a Barclays employee from the Deceased Case Management Team in Cardiff, recently organised a raffle for the event and raised £400 which was matched £4£ as part of the Barclays Community Investment Programme.
Kathy Brown, Barclays Community Relations Manager said, “ At Barclays we are committed to looking after local communities and we are delighted to support the new 1st Penarth Scout Group. This is a great opportunity for us to help make a real and lasting difference by supporting a range of causes from local schools to centres for older people.” The funds come from Barclays Community Investment Programme, which in 2007 donated £52.4 million.
Edward Burt, Chairman Penarth Round Table, presented the Scouts with a cheque £1,045 for the purchase of much needed chairs and tables for PADSAC. Edward Burt said “Penarth Round Table are very pleased to support a great youth organisation like the Scouts here in our community and wish the Committee all the success in there development and refurbishment of PADSAC.
Derrick Musk, Chairman Penarth Scouts said, “It was a truly great evening and I wish to extend my thanks on behalf of Penarth Scouting to the generosity of Penarth Round Table, Barclays Bank and The Snorklers. A special thank you must go the PADSAC Management Team for organising and deliverying such a good event”.
