Barclays help launch new Scout Group
The 1st Penarth Scout Group has been given a major boost thanks to a £1000 donation from Barclays. Scouting is designed to be fun for everybody, both the young and old, as well as being adventurous and exciting for everyone. In Scouting you know your children are in good hands, with trained adults there to lead and advise them. Through Scouting they'll have access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences. They will learn, they'll have fun, and they'll develop character. They will become part of a worldwide youth organisation that has proven programmes of activities, all designed to help them grow up in the world as responsible and valuable citizens.
The money has been used to purchase a computer, printer, digital camera and software to help the new Scout Group with their administration and record their activities and adventures.
Kathy Brown, Barclays Community Relations Manager said, “At Barclays we are committed to looking after local communities and we are delighted to support the new 1st Penarth Scout Group. This is a great opportunity for us to help make a real and lasting difference by supporting a range of causes from local schools to centres for older people.”
Derrick Musk, Chairman Penarth Scouts said, “The 1st Penarth Scout Group only started on the 20th February this year and is delighted to receive a £1000 donation from Barclays. In todays world where attention to health and safety generates so much paperwork, being able to compterise eveything is a big help to the new Scout Group and helps them address some of our environmental issues today. A big thank you to Barclays”.
The funds come from Barclays Community Investment Programme, which in 2007 donated £52.4 million.
