Barclays help launch new Scout Group

1st Penarth Scout Group.
If you were a Cub Scout, Scout, Brownie or Girl Guide, you'll remember the fun of weekends camping in the hills, ghost stories around the fireside, and the pride of taking home a new proficiency badge for Mum to sew on. Perhaps you can still remember how to tie a sheepshank or how to make damper. And you've never forgotten the words of the promise…something about “doing my best and helping other people” wasn't it?
You'll probably want your children to have the same fun and learn the same skills. Even if it's all new to you, you'll find Scouting is still great fun for you and your children.
Great for Parents.
You'll know your children are in good hands. Trained adults are there to lead and advise them. Through Scouting they'll have access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences. They'll learn. They'll have fun. They'll develop character. They'll also become part of a worldwide organisation with a proven programme of activities designed to help them cope with the world as responsible and valuable citizens.
Great Value.
For all you and your children will get out of Scouting, the cost is very small. Each boy or girl pays "subs" - a small regular subscription - and from time to time there may be an extra charge to cover special events such as a camp, pack holiday or Jamboree. Uniforms are required and can be purchased at the Scout Shop here at PADSAC.
Great for Children.
Scouting is a great way for kids to have fun. It's also a great way to help them grow into capable, self-reliant individuals. Scouting helps children to:
DEVELOP new skills and interests - SHARE with friends of their own -
HELP others SERVE the community - WORK together -ENJOY outdoor life GAIN confidence - ACCEPT responsibility
SHOW resourcefulness - THINK for themselves
The 1st Penarth Scout Group is open here Wednesday evenings at PADSAC for both boys and girls wishing to join:
Cub Scouts (8 to 10½ years) - Scouts (10½ and 14 years)
Want to get involved?
We currently have opportunities for adults to join our team of leaders and helpers, in a variety of roles. What’s in it for them? Fun and a great sense of achievement, outdoor activities, meeting new people, friendship, personal development, being part of a team, increasing self esteem, seeing a worthwhile result and never being bored.
Become a Leader: Plan and run the evenings for the children, organise trips, camps and have great fun!
Become a Helper: Someone who the Leaders can rely on for helping out on Wednesday nights, and for what ever other activities you can fit in.
